Back at
mississippienne's place after day 2 of New York Comic Con. I did ultimately bring my laptop--I'm rather attached to it, apparently--which was hell on my back yesterday and will no doubt be hell again tomorrow, but today I got to leave it behind in her apartment.
I was at the Hasbro-IDW panel today, where they mentioned (among many less important things) that Galvatron was going to be back next year after the Infestation crossover (in which Abnett and Lanning inflict zombies on all of IDW's licensed properties). Yay Galvatron! IDW Galvatron and not, you know, the one I'm actually a fan of, but still. XD
(I asked what they're doing with him, and while I didn't get a very clear answer I was assured that, no, really, still very much the guy who was in the dead universe. And he'll have an army that's more than just Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps, which certainly isn't a concept I've got an objection to, at least since that does rather imply that Cyc and Scourge will be there.)
Anyway, I like what Abnett and Lanning have done with the cosmic Marvel stuff, so while I'm not terribly enthused about the zombies, I'm excited to see what they do with it all.
Before that I spent a fair amount of time wandering around with
mississippienne and also some time with
poisonivory,
mizzmarvel, and
suyari. It was fun. I also was at the
boostle meet-up, although I didn't have a whole lot to say to people, alas. I haven't really been into that pairing since, um, almost before the community existed. There were some great costumes, though.
As per usual I spent too much money on toys and things. The most entertaining thing about it all at the moment, to my way-too-tired brain, is the slogan on Device Label Frenzy (the blue one) -- "Sow panic and surrender will bloom". He (and Device Label Rumble) are, in fact, functional earphones (a step up from their original toy incarnation as non-playing cassettes, I guess), though their leg joints aren't put together very well--both of Frenzy's came off when I tried to transform him, and it took me ages to get the left one back on.
It's kind of weird being at a con when I'm not really actively fannish about comics so much. I haven't spent much time talking to creators and very little time looking through the comics on sale. I might try to do more of the former, at least, tomorrow--something to keep me away from the toy booths, anyway. I'm not really into the IDW stuff enough to have much to say to those creators, even if I'd succeeded in finding them other than at the panel. I did see Michael Bell at the booth with the exclusive TF issue, but paying $10 for the comic was more than enough, frankly; I'm not going to spend $15 for a signature.
