"Short version: From what I've investigated in the past hour or so, it looks like LiveJournal is now a client of Driving Revenue - their "Affiliate vB" program is exactly what is going on; they're secretly redirecting links to any e-commerce sites (or anything that looks like it might be a link to an e-commerce site) and replacing affiilate IDs with their own."
Basically, they're making money out of your links.
