A note for collectors of Golden Age room-sharin' heroes

I've seen (lots of) scans of Bruce and Dick sharing a bedroom back in the day, and one of Ollie and Roy.

Now the Comic Treadmill brings us Sandman and Sandy doing the same. (Small image in the middle of the post--click for a somewhat larger one.)

You know, I'm almost kind of disappointed, because I thought it was unique when Bruce and Dick did it! And then of course Ollie is just being a big copy-cat. But apparently this is STANDARD. I don't quite know what to think!

Yeah--Wes and Sandy? Pretty innocent as crimefighters go (and not especially taken to Bruce-imitation, even in their costumed years). A lot of the time I think it's as much an artistic convenience as anything else--keep 'em in the same room for conversation/action/etc. Plus prior generations were much less hung up about platonic room-sharing, since there were fewer *rooms* per person back then--even though clearly Wes and Bruce and Ollie could *afford* to have separate rooms for their sidekicks.
