It's been longer than it seems like it ought to have been since I last posted, especially since I've, on the whole, been *more* energetic and involved in stuff the past few weeks than most of January.
But I've been running around friending some Marvel fans tonight, so I figured it'd be a good opportunity for some content around here.
My
brains_in_a_jar fic is kicking my ass.
brown_betty just made post about her
if-then theory of fanfic, which referenced
thebratqueen's somewhat more famous two-step theory of fic, and between the two I'm sort of realizing why: "What if Captain America were a brain operating a ship?" is sort of a big fucking step, world-building wise. (Rather less so, character-wise, really: if the government needed brains in ships, rather than super soldier-serum guinea pigs, that *would* have been what Steve ended up as.) But I flail a lot at plotting and figuring out just which version of the Marvel U this *takes place* in.
And then I wind up ass-deep in Cosmic Marvel. Okay, partly that's just because I want to learn more about Avengers continuity *and* there was a big sale at the comicshop last week, so I just read through the
Kree-Skrull War trade (which has
an awesome cover.
Skrull cows are one of the best things EVER) and am working on
Galactic Storm.
(In between I read the
Vision and Scarlet Witch trade, which I wasn't *expecting* to go cosmic on me, but it included
the issue where they got married. Which just also happened to be the issue where
Mantis marries a
sentient alien tree.)
